Science at its best: gay sex and its socially made valuation

Joseph Couture performs a great service by making visible one of the most popular (and sometimes vilified or even demonized) forms of gay sex. But what does "public sex" mean? Sex in the wrong places? Places that criminalize the acting person? What does "public" really mean?
Looking closer: public gay sex is sex in parks, saunas, sex clubs, darkrooms...Hidden in bushes, in houses, in discos, in scene bars...Hidden, often without any bigger advertisment or with just a little mark (e.g. the rainbow flag as the internationally well known sign for a gay place). Or concerning the sex in parks burrowed by the night. What is public about that? Normally people do not want to be seen having sex. Or just by peoplehidden who are gooing for that (voyeurs, gays loving threesomes...). And never by police or homophobic people or possibly violent macho youth!
Sex is a very private thing (at least for most of us!), for gay and others. Even if it takes place in the so called public. The distinction between public an private is a relatively recent historical creation and a socially made distinction.
Joseph Couture is a passionate writer with a good sense for politics and for human beeings: for the good and bad.
