“It really grips you….I lost a lot of sleep reading it.” –Tim LaHaye, co-author of the LEFT BEHIND series

FROM THE ASHES…

“For more than a hundred years, New York City had it all. Pulse. Action. Demands and rewards. The city was as animated as any living thing: breathing, growing, exerting an undeniable force, never sleeping, always moving. More than a hundred years to reign. But only two weeks to transform into a quivering muddle of death.”

Five days ago an EMP attack brought the most technologically advanced country on Earth to its knees. Cars were useless. Phones were dead. Electricity was only a memory.

Wolves in the night, episode seven of Wrath and Righteousness
By Kindle Customer
Episode Seven seems to be repetitive of Episode six. It was like I already had read the whole thing. I was very disappointed. I read through it as I thought it was just refreshing the memory at first as to what had gone before but here was barely any new material. Can't understand why this would be........Just a few new things would have helped.....

Some slow spots in the series, but still intriguing enough to continue
By Corban Storm
The series "Wrath and Righteousness" by Chris Stewart (and in some ways, re-engineered or at least 'tweaked' by Glen Beck's media outlet, MercuryInk) is certainly intriguing and a worthwhile read. At the point of this writing, I have completed six books and am into the seventh of what is anticipated to be a ten book series. The geopolitical apocalyptic genre, viewed through the eyes of faith, definitely captures my interest, and I have found the characters to have sufficient depth--though I am not sure yet if I would describe any as "multi-dimensional" at this point. Nonetheless, they are believable and I do find myself caring about them, which is important when one is speaking of a work that will probably span more than a half-million words.

Though the genre is in no way new, and the concept of impending nuclear war not novel, the author nonetheless offers a unique approach to apocalyptic prophecy that is historically congruent, geopolitically plausible, and supernaturally driven. In some ways it reminds me of the Dominion series by Compasse in that sense. But the author's military and now political background definitely add credence to the scenario he paints; I think when reading literature of future events, there is a part of all of us that seeks to prepare ourselves for these potentialities. Mr. Stewart has seen and has knowledge of many things that may never become public knowledge, so it behooves us to consider how he sees things playing out, fictionally portrayed or not.

I have two minor criticisms of the series thus far. I do feel that it slows down at times--perhaps for the intent of further developing the characters or even the philosophical underpinnings of the series --but I don't think it accomplishes either of these significantly enough to justify the action-hiatus. I have had to "push through" some sections at times. The second criticism is that in the very difficult task of drawing in supernatural realities (such as demons, angels) without sliding into the somewhat less-credible, fantasy/comical images... well, I don't know if the author is able to quite pull it off. Though as a believer myself I appreciate that the Mr. Stewart is emphasizing the fact that much of the activity on the physical plane is being greatly affected by what is taking place on the supernatural plane, the demonic beings do come off as a bit comic-strip-ish; he has not fully suspended my faculties of disbelief when he transitions into these other-worldly sequences. Still, I do believe the essential concept (the influence of the supernatural on us) is sound. As well, it seems that there are plenty of demons at work in these sequences, but not many angels are showing themselves in the same way.

Nonetheless, the story is gripping enough to keep me engaged. We will see if in the end, my minor criticisms will be extinguished!

Some other reads that those who enjoy the Wrath & Righteousness series might find intriguing:

Dominion I: Seed (a 7-part Apocalyptic/supernatural thriller series)
Father Elijah (a fascinating, faith-based end-times novel by an exceptional author)
The Overton Window (Glen Beck's own hand at fiction... a fun and interesting read)

Redundant
By Noelle B. K. Chapin
I LOVE these books and snap them up the moment they become available. However, I was disappointed in this book in particular. It seemed rather short, and the bulk of the prose was "review" : recapitulating how all the characters got to this point. I think that should occur in a prologue, sparing those of us who have been following along the repetition. Also, there was at least one flaw / inconsistency (leaving the gold etc. in the car versus burying it). Additionally, the main "secret" (what Sarah was "told" by her deceased husband) was unrevealed in this episode.

Overall, I love the series, but this particular episode was low on new content and too high on redundancy.
