Too Short

This is a story about a teen who finds a way to go to hell and rescue her father, but did not make the proper provisions to get back out again. It is a story of a stepfather who will go through hell to save his step-daughter.
A good read with great writing and very little to no errors. I would recommend it to young teens and adults.
Good character and story development but would have personally wished it were longer.To Hell and Back Again...With a Little White Dog

There is something very special in this tale, for lovers of little white dogs and even for those who may look upon such creatures with suspicion. The prose is clear and unfussy, conveying a study in character and incident so compelling, after the first read you want to immediately read again and sift out overlooked bits of humor. It's not often that prose with magical aspects engages me, yet with that part of the story treated as an everyday thing, it never makes your head feel all scratchy from weird spells or many-consonanted beings attacking/lending aid from nether/transcendental realms; no, this clever tale avoids having a case of what could euphemistically be called "literary dandruff".

Interesante, bien tramada, bien traducida.

Nele Neuhaus es una autora alemana de 47 años que comenzó su carrera de escritora auto-publicando sus trabajos. En el momento actual, su carrera ha despegado francamente, y -a mi entender- con toda justicia. Es popular en Alemania y también afuera.- Esta novela corresponde a la serie del "Taunus", una región cercana a Frankfurt. Como es de uso, hay dos personajes, Oliver, el inspector, y Pía, la detective, que se repiten. Cuando esto sucede, es importante que además del "crimen" propiamente dicho, los personajes habituales resulten literariamente amigables , estén bien diseñados y su psicología
y comportamientos sean coherentes con el argumento. Y esto sucede en "Amigos hasta la muerte", formando, entonces, un todo armónico en que la trama progresa y los individuos también.
Me proporcionó buenos ratos de lectura absorbente.

Divertida e interesante.

Esta serie la he estado leyendo hacia atrás, por lo que ya sabía que algunos "sospechosos" no eran realmente tales (una pena, uno de los presuntos homicidas era demasiado bueno y es de quien hubiera yo sospechado de no haber sabido que el personaje sigue en la trama en volúmenes futuros). De todas formas, me ha gustado bastante. La historia está tan bien escrita que personajes con los que normalmente hubiera simpatizado por ser defensores de los animales, en realidad llegaron a caerme mal. Una buena novela para una tarde lluviosa.

A veces el lector se pierde en los detalles de la trama si no está atento a las descripciones que a simple vista parecen banales. Pero cuando se llega al desenlace todo cobra forma y significado. Me llamó la atención las veleidades de los policias quienes lejos de ser ejemplos de personas de buena crianza, sí son gentes entregados a su labor de protección de la comunidad. El desenlace poco creíble.

Recomiendo su lectura, poniendo mucha atención a los detalles.

I LOVE the Vampire Kisses series!!! Their AMAZING books with an AMAZING writer!! I don't read manga but I thought I would read this beacuse it a side story of the books that I love. I was not disapointed!! This manga is just as good as the book with new characters for the Manga but recurring characters for this manga because it more of the fourth Vampire Kisses manga. The illustrator is great as well, love how he draws the characters!! If you love Vampire Kisses the series and manga then you'll love this one too!! 8)

Even better than the first

Graveyard Games in even better than Blood Relatives. Love that we get to see more of Raven family and friends in this book and the whole goth Cinderella play idea was a fantastic theme for a story. It nice having some idea how Ellen Schreiber envision her characters. My only regret in the book is that we still haven't had raven's female friends from the Coffin Club make an appearance in manga form yet. Nice to have a chapter preview of Vampire Kisses book 8 included in this comic.

Wow...just wow. This book left me breathless.

Wow...just wow. This book left me breathless.

At the beginning, I really thought I was going to lose my mind. Nightshade is back, which should have made me jump for joy, because, well, I absolutely love him, but he was different. Changed. And it ripped out my heart. After the last book, I was desperately looking forward to the awesome connection he had with Chloe and it just wasn't there. But... what Fletcher did with my favorite characters was even better. More fulfilling, that's for sure, and in no time I was lost in the magnificent world of The Doorknob Society Saga.

Chloe just can't get a break. But then, when you are in the middle of a war between good and evil, I guess it's to be expected. Chloe's mother killed her father, stole the love of her life, and if that isn't bad enough, her mother is hell bent on killing her. Edgar has been captured, and after what happened to Nightshade, Chloe's little group of friends will not rest until they save him.

Just like the others, this segment of The Doorknob Society Saga is action packed. Chloe is still as impulsive as ever, and that characteristic alone kept me on the edge of my seat as I absorbed the pages as quickly as I could. There were lots of unexpected twists and turns that had me gasping out loud and made my heart race. The suspense, the action, the romance; every piece was there, weaved together wonderfully.

The ending was bitter sweet; a perfect mix of heartbreak and love. I had tears, I laughed...it was just perfect. This series just keeps getting better and better with every book.

May cannot come fast enough. I need the next book now. If you haven't read this series yet, then go get it! I mean it, go get it now! Seriously, what are you waiting for? It's awesome!

Gets better with each book!

The fourth in this five part series by MJ Fletcher, this book continues the story of Chloe and her stalwart band of friends battling the First Kind not only for their lives, but the continued existence of their world (and ours) as they know it.

Driven by revenge over the death of her father and the kidnapping of Edgar, Chloe rallies her team of Jess, Slade and Nightshade to her side. Even her best "normal" friend Val, plays a more active role in the series. The knowledge that Nightshade still does not remember they both love each other eats at her continually even with the introduction of a suitable alternative match in Declan, a witty and handsome Detective Inspector. He helps keep her spirits up, but even their first date manages to go awry in the worst possible way.

Past and future intertwine as Chloe discovers familial relationships she never knew she had. These are handled well and enrich the story in surprising ways.

The action really picks up when they figure out where Edgar is being held and the team, with the blessing of Gavin and Emory, launch a rescue mission. That mission is further complicated with the discovery that the First Kind are in possession of more than one Artifact thus putting the entire plan in jeopardy.

I am always impressed by the way Mr. Fletch handles writing in the first person without painting himself into a corner. It is very difficult to do and I applaud him. In addition, each book has improved on the previous one which I love to see. There are occasions when the answers are pretty obvious and I'm surprised none of the characters put two-and-two together since they are all pretty bright. (Think "forget-me-knots.")

What's more important is the fact that it is a real page turner and I looked forward to reading it every night. I highly recommend this YA series and look forward to more.

The Detective Inspectors is the fourth book in The Doorknob Society saga and was kindly provided to me by the author, MJ Fletcher in exchange for my honest review.

I am a huge fan of The Doorknob Society saga and the fantasy world Fletcher has created. It is full of life with amazing characters that I have become truly invested in, ongoing drama, action and a really sweet romance which has been a slow and believable progression.

Chloe Masters was more gun ho in this book, she stands up for what she believes in, she is caring and protective of her friends and family and will do anything possible to put a stop to her mother and the First Kind. In this installment we see her leading her friends on a dangerous mission to locate and rescue Edgar Magnus who was kidnapped in the previous book; the Detective Inspectors HVO have been compromised and she is also sought after and more well known because of her Polymorph abilities which she continues to learn more about.

The plot flowed well and I liked the change of setting; the many twists and turns we are given truly surprised and shocked me which is usually hard to do when you are four books into a series but I like where the story is going and how Chloe is now embracing her powers and becoming more of a leader.

Without giving away any spoilers, I am pleased with the romance and how it has progressed from book one until now - we have a possible three love interests, James Nightshade, Michael Slade and Declan Hardcastle, one I didn't feel was necessarily needed but I liked that we finally have a clear choice and Chloe is happy.

Each of the secondary characters play an important role in this series, a few standout as favourites such as Nightshade, Edgar, Jess and Val but they are each endearing in their own way; we have a few returning baddies which are also written well and their fight is one I am curious to see played out.

Mr. Fletcher's writing holds my attention as does the wonderfully gripping story he has created, there is something new with each book; it is all fresh and unique and brings new mystery and intrigue to the ongoing saga as we continue learning about each of the societies.

Overall, The Detective Inspectors is another action-packed and enjoyable read. I am eager to see where Mr. Fletcher will take us on our next journey now the team have been declared outlaws.

End the Engagement. Let the Marriage Take Place!

This is a powerful book and an important one. It is a "game changer" for those who practice psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and for all of us who seek help now and then from a professional who can assist us along life's sometimes tortuous path.

Not only has Dr. Rubin paved the way for more compassion and understanding of the patient on the part of the therapist but he has recognized the human spirit and the importance of spirituality in our journey to health and balance. It sets the tone for a more holistic approach to "healing and transformation" on the part of all those who deal with the mind and emotions.
In Meditative Psychotherapy, Rubin looks at the three dimensions of psychotherapy--listening, understanding, and liberated intimacy to demonstrate what both meditation and psychotherapy bring to the table for the therapist and the patient. He talks about the strengths and weaknesses of each discipline and how they can complement each other. In his opinion there isn't a marriage yet, but an engagement. Hopefully, the marriage will take place soon.

This book should be read by all students and practitioners: psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, psychoanalysts, counselors and coaches. It should be read with what Rubin calls a "beginner's mind --an attitude of openness, with a lack of preconceptions."

Meditative Psychotherapy - a great guide for healing mind and body

This great new book by Dr. Jeffrey Rubin introduces 'meditative psychotherapy' approach to integration of East and West, rational and emotional, and mind-brain-body processes into a new you!
It will be very useful for any psychotherapy practitioner, as well as for anyone who is in the psychotherapeutic process himself or herself, so supplement what is offered.
I found it to be particularly helpful to those who would like to have a more hands-on approach to healing anxieties, panic disorders, relationship problems, and those who are looking for a better understanding of such important concepts as neuroplasticity and neurointegration.
Meditative psychotherapy will help to appeal to your mind, and to your body and soul all at the same time, which is a really liberating experience!

Great Trilogy

Excellent read! Well written with plot twist that leave you wanting more! I love how the point is made without the foul language. I passed this down to my teenage daughter to read. Good book, will look for more from this author.

For those who like alternate dimensions of paranormal

This is a genre I don't normally follow, however I have enjoyed other books written by Ms. Smith so I had no problem picking this one up. Knowing this was Ms. Smith's first releases I enjoyed her story telling immensely. The character development is lacking just a wee bit, but as each story is revealed I did grow quite fond of her 2 main characters David and Ellie. Ms. Smith adds plenty of twists and turns within the story to keep you wanting more and to keep you glued to what is going to happen next. I did feel a little jipped at the end, it just seemed to abruptly end, leaving me wanting to know how life was for David and Ellie after all the craziness they went through. This is a story I would recommend to anyone looking for a Teen/YA story about haunted houses, ghosts, demons, and the unknown. This is not a "sexy", "profane", adult type of paranormal book, this is definitely a book for the younger crowd. Well told story with events you might just need to stretch your imagination to wrap around. Well done and I look forward to reading more!!

Kept me guessing

The first book had me wanting to stay up all night to read the next chapter. The second book also was captivating and added a few more twists to the story. It keeps you guessing as to who is really using whom... Although the third book started a little slow, it picked up after the first 1/3 and added even more intrigue, finally revealing how it all began and tieing everything together... great finish and great series. It blended the afterlife, the real life, as well as heaven and hell into a truely tantalating tale. Excellent.
